I originally went to UCLA to study film. While doing well in all film-appreciation, screenwriting, and "intro to" acting classes, I was disheartened and disillusioned by the Hollywood scene as a whole, particularly after doing some intern work at Sony Pictures. Film school seemed a perfect reflection of the local film industry and I felt I wanted to do more with my life. Fascinated by different cultures, politics, and, simply put "how humans make the earth their home," I ended up studying Geography instead. I never once considered the limited employment opportunities for: "Professional Geographer." I have a deep passion for both film and politics. This is, however, a complete contrast to the type of films I thoroughly enjoy and love, which all seem to be dialogue-driven comedies with eclectic characters. I love Kevin Smith. I love Judd Apatow. I love Chuck Lorre. While I have a deep appreciation for films that carry strong messages (Crash, Gran Turino, Sunset Blvd., etc.), I believe in film as an experience that can lighten the heart and make you forget about the day-to-day stresses of life. I want to write and act in stories that make people laugh.
